EPAL Euro pallets are not manufactured in Australia. They only come in via international imports and are sold in the 2nd hand market. However, West Coast Pallets can manufacture equivalent sized pallets in either a block type pallet (like a Euro) or at the size of 1200x800mm.
Do you make plastic pallets?
No. We make high quality timber crates, pallets and other wood packaging materials. Wood is more eco-friendly to make and recycle than plastic, safer to stack high, can hold more weight – and our sustainable forestry supply chain allows us to have an uninterrupted supply for our clients.

Where do you source your pine from?
We source our pine (and other timber) from PEFC and FSC® certified sawmills, that actively focus and devote resources to protect the world’s forests for future generations. This is part of our commitment to sustainability and responsibility at every step.
Pine is a truly sustainable resource, logs are harvested from plantations and replanted. The growth cycle is usually around 20yrs. Additionally, timber is a carbon sink and stores carbon for its lifecycle (carbon sequestration). This helps mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
What hardwood is used for your hardwood pallets?
Due to the native logging bans in Western Australia our hardwood is sourced from private land, plantations or ecological thinning.
Timber varieties vary and include Jarrah, Marri, Karri and some gum varieties. Due to the mix of species you may see dark or light coloured hardwoods – you can always tell if it’s a hardwood pallet as it weighs significantly more than a pine pallet.
How do you know if the timber you supply is sustainable?
West Coast Pallets are certified to PEFC, which is a chain of custody system that ensures the timber is sourced from sustainably managed forests with fair labour conditions. This is a third-party audited and certified program; West Coast Pallets is the only certified pallet manufacturer in WA currently.
What is the weight capacity of a pallet?
The two main types of pallets are light duty (one tonne / 1T) or heavy duty which is (two tonne / 2T). The 2T pallets have thicker boards, making them stronger and ideal for heavier loads.
If you need pallets to handle weight capacity outside of the standard range, contact us about our custom pallet design – we can provide what you need with our industry-leading pallet design software.

Pallets are typically slightly small than the standard 1165×1165 pallets if they are going into a sea container so you can fit 2 side by side, the internal size of a shipping container varies but typically is around 2300mm wide. Link to the blog you did/ what is ISPM-15.
What is a racking pallet?
Racking pallets have an offset bottom lead board or a wide lead board (this is the first and last board on the bottom of a pallet). This “locks” the pallet into the cross bars of your pallet racking. Standard or dispatch pallets usually have a 100mm board that is flush to the outside of the pallet. This means that it is used for racking, it can be pushed an extra 100mm back – which may cause it to fall or push out a pallet on the rack behind. This is why racking pallets have their specific design.
