Our Plan for Environmental Sustainability
We Back Our Values with Our Actions
We care deeply about sustainability, so future generations can enjoy the same world we do.
At a company level, we take the view that if we do all our part – reducing energy use and waste, recycling instead of adding to landfill, minimising carbon emissions – we are all contributing to reducing our carbon footprint.
We actively work to reduce our site’s environmental impact by reducing emissions and waste to landfill.
Other actions we take include:
1. Sourcing Only Sustainably Grown Timber
We are setting industry-leading standards by sourcing sustainably grown timber, providing our customers with the assurance that the timber in our PEFC certified products originates from responsibly managed forests.
By choosing sustainably sourced wood we help to ensure the preservation of natural habitats; promoting biodiversity, and supporting responsible forestry practices.
2. Supporting The Forest Supply Chain
At West Coast Pallets & Crates, we choose to source our timber from PEFC and FSC® certified sawmills that actively focus and devote resources to protect the world’s forests for generations to come.
Additionally we have obtained PEFC Chain of Custody certification, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to supporting a sustainable forest supply chain.
We also contribute to the recycling and reusing of wood, reducing both wastage and the demand for new timber.
3. Recycling & Repairing Pallets
Despite being made from renewable sources, a significant number of pallets end up in landfill each year. At West Coast Pallets & Crates, we actively contribute to a circular economy by recycling and reconditioning a substantial number of second-hand and broken pallets.
Additionally, we collaborate with local wood recycling companies to ensure that any by-products are repurposed into industrial charcoal, sawdust, and animal bedding, further minimising waste and promoting sustainability.
By sourcing PEFC Timber, we are supporting sustainably managed forests globally
PEFC is an international, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification.
Choosing PEFC-certified products ensures traceability of the material from sustainably managed forests, through every stage of production, to the final product you purchase.
Each link in the supply chain must be certified, ensuring that the product meets strict sustainability criteria and that its origin can be verified at every step. This transparency gives you the confidence that your purchases support responsible forest management and ethical practices.
